Care Instructions

Proper care ensures your JACKEETA pieces remain beautiful for years to come. Follow these guidelines to maintain the quality and longevity of your garments.

GENERAL CARE

  • Always check the care label inside your garment before washing
  • Separate light and dark colors
  • Turn garments inside out before washing to preserve color and texture
  • Use cold water when possible to prevent shrinkage and color fading
  • Avoid overloading the washing machine
  • Remove items from the washer promptly to prevent wrinkles

CARE BY FABRIC

COTTON

Machine wash cold with like colors. Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Iron on medium heat if needed. Cotton may shrink slightly after the first wash.

WOOL

Hand wash in cold water with wool-specific detergent or dry clean. Lay flat to dry away from direct heat. Never wring or twist. Store folded, not hung, to maintain shape.

SILK

Dry clean recommended. If hand washing, use cold water and silk detergent. Never twist or wring. Roll in a towel to remove excess water, then lay flat to dry. Iron on low heat while slightly damp.

LINEN

Machine wash cold on gentle cycle. Tumble dry low or hang to dry. Iron while slightly damp on high heat. Linen naturally wrinkles – this is part of its charm.

DENIM

Wash inside out in cold water. Hang to dry to prevent shrinkage and preserve color. Iron on high heat if needed. Limit washing to every 5-6 wears to extend life.

CASHMERE

Hand wash in cool water with cashmere shampoo. Gently squeeze – never wring. Roll in towel to remove moisture, then lay flat to dry. Store folded with cedar or lavender sachets.

LEATHER

Professional leather cleaning only. Spot clean with a damp cloth. Store in breathable garment bag. Apply leather conditioner twice a year. Keep away from direct heat and sunlight.

STAIN REMOVAL

  • Oil-based stains: Apply dish soap before washing
  • Wine/Coffee: Blot immediately with cold water, then wash
  • Ink: Dab with rubbing alcohol using a cotton ball
  • Makeup: Pre-treat with liquid laundry detergent
  • Always test stain removers on an inconspicuous area first
  • Never put stained items in the dryer – heat sets stains

STORAGE TIPS

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Use padded hangers for structured pieces like blazers and coats
  • Fold heavy knits to prevent stretching
  • Use garment bags for special occasion pieces
  • Allow pieces to air out before storing
  • Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets to deter moths
